Manappuram Dialogue: Digital Dementia – Understanding and Addressing the Cognitive Cost of Technology
We conducted the Manappuram Dialogue with the theme ‘Digital Dementia’, which has become a greater concern for humanity. Understanding and addressing the cognitive cost of technology was the point we emphasised.
Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Professor of Clinical Psychology at NIMHANS, Bengaluru, shared his valuable thoughts on the topic. He explained what digital dementia is and how to control it. He emphasized creating a tech-free zone in each home to build healthier habits in our future heroes.
Our chief guest, Mr Naresh Kumar, IAS, former Chief Secretary of the Government of Delhi, appreciated our effort and thoughtful attempt to address today’s growing concern and reminded us to use technology in a wiser way to improve human life, not to erode it.
Our Managing Trustee, Mr. V P Nandakumar, highlighted the role of social media in altering cognitive behaviour and societal norms. Along with them, many eminent social figures took part in the event.
As you all know, overuse of technology and screen time has created noticeable changes in the human mind; our thought process, concentration, and overall development. Considering the importance of nurturing a healthy youth for a better future of our nation, Manappuram Finance organised this session. At Manappuram, we are dedicated to working for the improvement of our society and our nation.
